I was somewhat aware of the massive cultural impact that the “Roots” miniseries had on popular culture, but not until I worked with T Brand Studio creating a timeline of the show’s incredible cultural legacy did I fully realize how much the adaptation of Alex Haley’s work lefts its mark on this country. Just try and fathom this fact: around half of the 220 million Americans alive in 1977 watched at least a part of “Roots.”
